Amped Wireless Setup |

Amped wireless' objective is to develop the best of the quality long range wireless products by exploiting their experience, passion, innovative ideas to meet up with their customers need and expectations. The main specialization of Amped wireless is to provide long-range Wi-Fi routers, range extenders, access points, and USB adapters.

In this blog, we will be guiding you how to set up a range extender.

Find an optimal place for your range extender which can be midway between your wifi router and your wireless dead zone.

  • What is a wireless dead zone?

It is basically an area or zone in your office, home or apartment that actually has wi-fi coverage but your devices fail to get connected to the network.

  • How to find that optimal placement location for my AMPED extender?

The Range Extender comes with a Signal Strength LED located on the front of your device. This LED guides you to find the most optimal location. After the setup, LED takes 1-3 minutes to light when you power on your extender. For optimal performance, a signal strength of at least 70% is recommended. When the Signal Strength LED is Solid Green this means Excellent Signal 65-100%; if the LED is Blinking Green it means Moderate Signal 64% and below. If there is No Light then it means No Connection

Note: The LED will not turn on if the Extender is not connected to a Home Network.

  1. Establish a connection between your PC or Tablet to the Range Extender. This can be done by:
  1. Plugging the Range Extender into a power outlet.
  2. Connecting to the Range Extender's Wi-Fi network: 4 or Amped_B1200EX_5.0.

CAUTION: For users with Windows OS, you will see a prompt asking: "Do you want to set up your network?" in that case, select "Connect to the network without setting it up" or "No, just connect".

  1. Open the Web Browser and enter the URL: in the address bar. In case this URL does not work then try:

Note: Do not use FIREFOX

  • I am facing problems in accessing the web menu. What can I do?

Try the following:

  • Disconnect your PC or tablet from all Wi-Fi networks.
  • Establish a connection between your PC and the Range Extender with the help of an Ethernet cable.
  • In the address bar of your web browser type

  • Setup Wizard will open that will guide you further with the setup process. Click Scan to find the available networks you wish to extend.
  • Highlight and select the wireless network(s) that you wish to repeat. For dual-band routers select BOTH the 2.4GHz and 5GHz network names. To continue to click Next

Note: if you see that your wireless network is listed below 70% then you have to move your Range extender closer to the router and perform the scan again or else you will face slow speed or dropped connection issues.

  • You have to enter the security key In case your wireless home network(s) has security enabled. For dual-band routers, you will need to enter both security keys here. But if you do not have security enabled, leave the security field blank. Click Next to continue.
  • To configure the settings for your Extended Networks, the IDs are Amped_B1200EX_2.4 and Amped_B1200EX_5.0. You can also manually enter a new network ID and security key. The new security key should be at least 8 characters long. Click Next

CAUTION: Do not close or refresh this page. Allow the countdown to complete on its own and you will be automatically redirected by the wizard for the next step.

  • Once the countdown starts, your Range Extender will reboot and disconnect the Wi-Fi connection. So you have to reconnect your PC or tablet to the new Extended Network by connecting it with either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz Extended Network. Now follow the onscreen instructions, and once you are connected click OK and you have successfully completed your setup. If there are no problems in your configuration then a Setup Summary will be displayed or if there are problems the wizard will inform you to rescan.
